Step 3: About the Market
This section is also known as the market analysis portion of your book proposal. Here, you’ll describe your audience by answering questions such as:
Who are the likely readers of this book?
How old are they?
What do they like to buy? and
How are they reachable?
Your book may appeal to multiple demographics, and it’s okay to describe each of them in this section. What is not ok is thinking your book is for everyone. This is never the case. Understanding your audience helps you as the writer understand who your super fans are for marketing purposes overall. For example, Eckhart Tolle has a different audience with a different demographic than Danielle LaPorte or Gabby Bernstein.
In this video, we’ll go through an example so you can be clear on what is needed in this section of your book proposal.
