Introduction + Welcome

Welcome to how to write your book proposal for traditional publishers! This course is geared toward self-help and spiritual authors. However, this book proposal outline (and course) can also be used for entrepreneurs who are writing books to help grow their business. Please keep in mind: several of the big 5 publishing houses (think Penguin Random House) have spiritual or self-help imprints, so keep an open mind when it comes to who you can pitch your book to - research is key.

As part of this entire series, you’ll want to have your book proposal outline handy so you can take notes along the way. With my 20 year background in marketing and almost decade working in the spiritual publishing industry, I’ll be providing tips throughout the videos on how to “work around” what seems like an obstacle to getting your book published traditionally (ex: platform building).

As you continue on this writing journey, it’s important to understand that a book proposal is basically a way to sell yourself and your book. Another way to look at it is as a giant marketing document. That’s why I created this course, because I have the behind-the-scenes experience to help you tremendously in this process.

In this video, I’ll be sharing the general outline of what is included in most book proposals, what to expect in this process, and encouragement (because I know you can do this and we all need a little extra love sometimes!)

After this video, please go to the video entitled “Step 1 Book Overview”
