Step 1: Book Overview
The part of the book proposal writing process is the BIG ENCHILADA! This is where you will summarize AND sell your book.
In this section of the proposal, you’ll summarize your book - with special focus on what your book offers to the reader and what your audience will be drawn to.
Some key questions to answer in this section are:
Why does your book matter? What need are you meeting? What are the highlights of your book?
You need to think about this like you would a sales pitch and often (when I’ve worked with clients) I’ve asked them to write this part last. This part should take you some of the longest time during this proposal process, that’s how important it is.
In this video, we’ll look at an example to help show you what passed through the editorial gatekeepers and made it to be considered for publishing.
