Let Your Marketing Auntie set you straight on some marketing myths:

Myth #1
People (see, look at, watch) everything you put out into the world

The average person sees 4,000 - 10,000 ads a day according to Zippia. And I open with this statistic to help you understand how much demand there is for people’s attention. That means they are inundated to a point that even when they see your stuff, they probably won’t remember.

Due to all this noise and the fact it takes eight touchpoints to close a sale it’s a waste of energy to constantly crank out new content.

Market smart, not hard.

Myth #2
There’s a blueprint to solve all your marketing problems

You are conditioned as a business owner to want a step-by-step approach to solving an issue. This is logical for certain parts of your business - NOT marketing.

It’s cool. I know you’ve bought all the courses for the promise of the magic bullet to more revenue. I know you’ve either tried or have been tempted to use “bro marketing” tactics.

Here’s the thing: these tactics email list bomb, oversell, use dishonesty, and scare techniques to force a sale. Using these methods may make you immediate money, but will not net you long term revenue.

Market to YOUR audience, not ALL audiences.

Myth #3
Doing all the things will make you all the money

You can’t do everything well. I don’t care how multi-talented you are or how much you’ve had to do in all aspects of your business. There are other people who will do it better.

The same goes for when some marketing expert tells you to “post on every social platform.” NO. Just NO. And that’s because first, your clients may not be willing to meet you on every platform. And second, you’re spreading yourself thin creatively as well as impacting the quality of your content.

Market well, not poorly.
